What does good marketing actually look like?
In July, I had the opportunity to MC What Good Actually Looks Like, a Melbourne panel presented by The Marketing Club Melbourne chapter.
The premise was refreshingly straightforward: bring marketers from different disciplines into the same room and talk about what is actually working in marketing in 2026.
The panel brought together Becca Spencer from Sweat, Pieter Paul von Weiler from BetterBriefs, Sam Ayre from Cuttable, David O’Reilly from Mangrove Digital, James Fitzgerald from SMK, Chelsea Russell from Snowflake and Melanie Power from Forty Winks.
We talked about performance, research, data, benchmarks and the realities behind the work.
My role for the evening was a little different. As MC, I was there to bring those perspectives together, ask questions and keep the conversation moving.
One of the things I enjoy most about industry events is hearing how people working in completely different areas approach similar problems.
There isn’t necessarily one definition of “good”.
A performance marketer, creative, researcher and brand marketer can look at the same problem through completely different lenses. Put those perspectives together and the conversation becomes much more interesting.
Thanks to The Marketing Club AU/NZ, Chanel Clark, Rhea Rebello and Tank Stream Labs for bringing the evening together, and to everyone who joined us in Melbourne.
