The value of paying attention
I spend a lot of time thinking about marketing.
Not just campaigns, content or what brands are posting, but the smaller things that shape how we experience them.
The wording on a sign. The way a website makes you feel. An email you actually want to open. Packaging you keep. A restaurant that somehow gets every detail right.
Good marketing often begins before anyone calls it marketing.
It starts with paying attention.
Paying attention to what people are interested in. How they behave. What they notice. What they ignore. What they talk about afterwards.
The same applies when making the work.
You notice when something feels too complicated. When an idea needs more room. When the interesting part is actually the thing sitting quietly in the background.
Data tells us a lot, and strategy gives us direction, but there is still something valuable about being observant.
Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to marketing in the first place.
It gives me another reason to keep looking.
