Why I still like printed things
For someone who spends a significant amount of time looking at things on screens, I still really like paper.
Books, magazines, postcards, invitations, old photographs, packaging, tickets and little pieces of printed ephemera that probably weren’t designed to be kept forever.
Recently, I’ve been having some of my own work printed again, including photographs from Cuba and an illustration called Flowers in blue porcelain.
There is something different about an object you can hold. It takes up space. You can give it to someone, put it inside a book, pin it to a wall or find it again years later.
Maybe that’s why I keep coming back to print.
Some things are simply nicer when you can hold them.
